1. These radios will not work with existing radios.
Answer: These devices are analog PMR radios. If you use analog PMR, you may have activated the so-called subtone coding ("CTCSS") on your existing devices, or your existing devices may have a different subtone coding than the new devices. You can change the CTCSS settings in the programming software. The software and German instructions are available for download at Radioddity.com.
2. Do you have to register your radio in the PMR area?
Answer: In principle, the PMR radio band remains open to the public until 2022 and can be used by amateurs with a transmission power of up to 500 mW without registration. PMR radio manufacturers comply with the legal requirements for this. The Federal Network Agency provides information on frequency allocations for Germany.
3. Can the radio also communicate with other brands or other radio devices?
Answer: Yes, of course. These devices operate on the PMR band. As long as the devices use the same band, different brands can communicate with each other on the same channel. They can communicate with each other without any problems!
4. How far is the range?
Answer: Up to 1.5-3 km. However, the range of a PMR446 varies greatly depending on the location. The maximum range is based on ideal conditions, from the top of the hill to the top of the hill, but the actual range will be much shorter if you're in a built-up area.
